A person who witnesses bullying happening is known as a bystander. Bystanders have the opportunity to assist a person who is being bullied using a variety of positive response strategies.

The BTB Assist posters have 6 positive bystander response strategies for students to use when they either witness bullying occurring or know about bullying happening at school or online.

Recent Bullying research from the Telethon Kids Institute Australia urges schools and parents to encourage students to be positive bystanders in online and offline settings. Students should be aware that they are contributing to bullying behaviour if they encourage a student who is bullying someone else or watch on without taking action.
