Who we are?
Break Through Bullying was established in 2003 to ‘bring light’ to bullying issues
and teach positive response strategies to school aged students who are faced
with conflict situations or experiencing bullying. The Break Through Bullying logo
features the image of the Fist of Freedom, symbolising the ongoing pursuit of
justice and fair treatment of all people in our world.
Break Through Bullying Director, Melissa Graham is an educator with over
twenty-five years of teaching and student behaviour support experience.
Bullying can be hurtful, and students who experience bullying can be left feeling
helpless. It is important that students are empowered to stand up for themselves
and learn the skills required to be confident, resilient and adaptable.
Break Through Bullying products are designed to be eye-catching, informative
and educational. The products encourage educators to help students to ‘break
through the bullying cycle’ by offering practical response strategies for students
to choose from when faced with bullying situations. Students are empowered to
change the situation, or assist another student, by using a strategy suited to their
age and level of development.

Founder and Director - Break Through Bullying
Melissa Graham is an educator with over twenty-five years of experience in teaching,
student behaviour support, inclusive education and student wellbeing.
Working with Education Queensland as an actor for the Logan Learners for
Life, ‘Fair Go’ program, a workshop providing students with the opportunity to
role play positive responses to bullying situations, Melissa had firsthand
experience of the serious nature of bullying. Using her creativity, she captured
the essence of the positive strategies students could choose from when faced
with conflict or a potential bullying situation on posters. This is how Break
Though Bullying began in 2003, providing educators with information and visual
supports for teaching positive response strategies to students.
Melissa has presented Break Through Bullying workshops in schools – for
students and teachers, Life Education Queensland, youth services and sporting
“Break Through Bullying products offer children a visual aid to remind them of appropriate anti-bullying strategies. It is an easy, kid- friendly method of understanding the various techniques children may use to combat bullying. It highlights the different forms of bullying so that children can learn the correct way to manage a situation. As a psychologist, these products can reinforce behaviours that have been modelled in small group or one-to-one sessions. I find these aids both helpful and fun when teaching kids the essentials about bullying.”
